About The Author

Emmy Gray-Winter

Emmy Gray-Winter

Emmy grew up in the home counties in the 1970’s. She trained to be a nurse, midwife and health visitor in Reading. She moved with her young family to Wiltshire in 2005, to escape the rat race of life. Emmy currently works for the NHS as a clinical practice educator.

Emmy was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 40, having struggled for many years with the challenges of being undiagnosed, and periods of depression. It was over 10 years ago, during a period of ill health that she came up with the idea for her debut novel. With the encouragement of family, friends and colleagues, Emmy decided to take the plunge putting pen to paper, to write the novel which had been burning inside her. Thus creating her debut novel a “Twisted Thread.”

When an injured girl is found on a park bench and has no memory, DI Mike Jeffordson is determined to discover her identity.

Midwifery Sister Oliver is convinced the girl is the French midwife Aline Deniaud who was sacked from her job.

Counsellor Simon Thomas is adamant that the victim is Eve McDonnell a woman with a troubled past.

Reverend Hillier knows her as Mary Daniels, one of his homeless flock.

As psychiatric staff work to uncover memories of the vicious attack, DI Jeffordson is nearing retirement.

Will he unlock the truth, in this, his final case?
