The Life and Times of a joe soap

Born before World War Two, Tony Bull stayed out of the way until puberty, then was forced into military uniform and societal rules. Later, he thrived in the digital world, even dreaming of becoming a ‘Captain of Industry.’ But as the world evolved, he found it tedious and moved into The Arts, where he remains content and sane, though not greatly prosperous.

Tony Bull

Born during the depressed times before World War Two, Tony Bull remained out of the way until, having passed through the age of puberty, he was forcefully persuaded to wear military uniform and conform to rules of society as circumstances required.

Later, he was led, gently by the hand, into the emerging world of digital manipulation where, for a while at least, whilst still conforming, he flourished, even at one time being encouraged to think of himself as a potential ‘Captain of Industry’.

But every world evolves, some towards catastrophe, others to disillusion, his, alas, into mere tedium, and so, realising in due time, he strode confidently away into that interesting part of the Universe where The Arts prevail.

Having seized his liberty, he remains content and potentially sane whilst failing, it must be said, to have prospered to any great degree.

Born during the depressed times before World War Two,

I remained out of the way until, having passed through the age of puberty, I was forcefully persuaded to wear military uniform and conform to rules of society as circumstances required.

Later, I was led, gently by the hand, into the emerging world of digital manipulation where, for a while at least, whilst still conforming, I flourished, even at one time being encouraged to think of myself as a potential ‘Captain of Industry’.

But every world evolves, some towards catastrophe, others to disillusion, mine, alas, into mere tedium, and so, realising in due time, I strode confidently away into that interesting part of the Universe where The Arts prevail.

Having seized my liberty I remain content and potentially sane whilst failing, it must be said, to have prospered to any great degree.
