About The Author

Dr Celia Grummitt

Dr Celia Grummitt

Dr Celia Grummitt has been using horses to improve human health for more than twenty years. She first became aware of the therapeutic impact and importance of involving horses whilst helping others back to health in the 1980s.

Since that time she has gained a considerable understanding of the field and in 2003 developed an Outdoor Therapy Centre in Wiltshire alongside her mainstream work in NHS General Practice.

As a doctor she knows that medicine doesn’t hold all the answers and is pleased to use the full range of outdoor therapy in her practice. Celia has taught many, lectured widely and recognised the need to establish a book to support these therapies into the mainstream so they are more available throughout the UK. Her dream is that outdoor therapy, and horse-based therapy in particular, is more available to people as the understanding of this work is spread.

Celia has taught many, lectured widely and now recognise the need to establish a book to support these therapies into the mainstream so they are more available throughout the UK. Her dream is that outdoor therapy, and horse based therapy in particular, is more available to people as the understanding of this work is spread.A block to the wider usage of horses in the field of human health is its complexity. To overcome this Celia has developed the matrix approach which she now uses in practice. We hope you will also find this useful, both in practice and in the explanation of this work. Celia also hopes you will be encouraged to explore and expand this important and rewarding field further.Celia wishes to thank all who helped to produce this book. A book is never the work of only one person.
